As a mobile rabbit grooming service, I come to you. It’s a house call. It is much less stressful for your bunny and easier for my customers too. However, I’ve rented space in a dog grooming shop on Sundays, Mondays and weekdays after 4pm for those who like coming to a shop! It’s in the strip mall on the NW corner of 35th Ave. & Cactus! Still call me for an appointment!
I am a rabbit certified groomer, and an “old“ RN, retired, so I look at lots of things you don’t know I’m checking: flea dirt, eye and ear problems, lumps, bumps, abscesses-especially on the jawline and feet. I check for sore hocks, poopy butt, urine stained feet, urine scald, scent glands. I clean ears and scent glands, break up mats, sanitary trim, nails trimmed, perhaps a haircut and of course a deshedding! Why does a rabbit need all of this? Worst case scenario if they swallow too much hair it will clog the GI tract and cause GI stasis and possible death, and urine scald can lead to bone infection and a deadly sepsis. But, mostly the mats and long nails can cause a lot of pain for your rabbit.
Ask about my Rabbit Vet List and GI Stasis Protocol! Also free samples and first aid kit list.
Customers have questions, I have answers!
About shaving mats and pelts, I have a 2hour max session per day policy. Rabbits cannot tolerate more than this. Also, expect that there will be some nicks to the skin, it is very fragile and it’s unavoidable. Lastly, rabbit fur has a texture that just doesn’t like scissors or clippers and the result is that when trimming hair it looks choppy, not necessarily pretty like a nicely groomed dog.
At The Splooting Rabbit, my passion for bunnies started 13 years ago when I had an 18 bun rabbitry and knew very little about rabbits. Those poor bunnies I say. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to be working with buns forever. I’ve had a few house rabbits and I studied anything I could get my hands on. Now I know quite a bit more and I still volunteer at Bogart Bunny Rescue. I have 5 of my own bunnies now and the grooming and volunteering keeps me in the bunny world.
I am always looking for ways to improve and expand our services. Your suggestions are always welcome. Our goal is to become the go-to pet rabbit groomer specializing in cases of urine scald, pelting and poopy butt, Rabbit First Aid Responder and Rabbit Consultant in Phoenix area and beyond.
Come to the shop for a true Spa experience or at home : music, aromatherapy, candles, massage, also includes: brush out, haircut, nails, scent glands, ears, sanitary trim, health assessment
Treatment includes very expensive products that deliver results! Poopy butt needs determination of it‘s origin and can lead to serious infections in your bunny. I can work with you to clear it up. Usually a butt bath and a shave is a good starting point then we work on diet. Regular sanitary shaves may be required.
Even outgrown nails can become a big problem if not done about every 8 weeks. It causes bunny to hop unevenly and develop a sore hock that can lead to an infection.
Cost depends on severity. Some mats can be combed out, pelting may require a full shaving.
This is a difficult cut and depending on bunny’s genetics and the texture of their wool sometimes cannot be shaved or end up looking choppy. Price depends on amount of time it takes to comb out, remove mats, & bunny agreement!
Can be part of the groom, this is for long haired bunnies. This may just be the head or face or entire body. Many rabbits have hair that impairs their ability to see or that just look better and much cuter all trimmed up. This may may be a scissor/thinner cut or a clipper cut. A full body clipper cut such as those for Angoras usually take over two hours and run $100.
Most people know that rabbits are not to be bathed. So unlike a dog or cat grooming, I do not bathe during the grooming. Also, fragrances, & essential oils are not tolerated or toxic to rabbits. So, as much fun as it would be to give you a sweet smelling bunny, I can’t!!
I love caring for your buns! If you have a special request or questions, send me a message or even an picture and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
